DISCUSS the 2011 CAMPBELL RIVER MUNICIPAL ELECTION on the RE-ELECT RYAN MENNIE FOR COUNCIL  facebook page

First off…thanks for popping by my blog!

I hope it provides entertaining insight and information.

Second, who am I?  What have I been up to the last few years?  I’ll tell you!

I’m a husband, and a dad.   I’m a radio guy. (afternoon announcer/music director at 97.3 The Eagle)

Over the last 13 years in Campbell River I’ve also been:

  • City Councillor since 2008
  •
  • An Alternate Director for the Strathcona Regional District, the Comox Strathcona Regional Hospital Board, and the Comox Strathcona Regional Waste Management Committee.
  • Council liaison to Success By Six, the City-School District 72, Seniors Advisory, and Youth Advisory Committees
  • A proud member of the 2008/2009/2010/2011 Canada Day Committee. (click on the years to see the videos I cooked up!)
  • A host of the Campbell River Hospital Foundation Telethon for seven years.
  •        A Sunday School teacher for two to five year olds (now THAT was a learning experience).
  •  A dog walker with the SPCA.
  •        An actor in Rivercity Players and Shoreline Musical Theatre productions, and most recently starred in the local indie film production of “Cipher” by young Campbell River director Michael Stevantoni.

An MC of annual events like:

the Relay For Life

-Fuerza Chile (Be Strong Chile): the Chilean Earthquake Relief Fundraiser

the Fashion Inferno (a fundraiser for the Campbell River Firefighter’s Burn Fund)

the Campbell River Chamber of Commerce Community Awards of Excellence (and nominated for the Citizen of the Year award in 2003)

the Positive Aquaculture Awareness Awards

the Campbell River Canada Day festivities in Ostler Park

the Maritime Heritage Society’s Discovery Passage Boat Rodeo

Even a gameshow host promoting various volunteers and volunteer groups in the community on the CRTV program Voluntrivia!

Now let’s see what I can pull off in the NEXT 13 years.  🙂

  1. Ryan,

I was at the candidates meeting today and thought you did fabulous! I enjoy the fact that you are young and represent a part of our community that needs a voice. It concerns me that I was one of the only people under 35 in that room tonight! I live in Area D but if I did have a vote I would support you (aswell as others of course)

Great job and good luck on the 14th!!

  2. Hey Ryan, It’s Mike and Erin that met you at the mall today. We just wanted to say that you have our vote for the 15th! We like the issues that you have brought forth and we hope that we were able to enlighten you with our hopes for the community too. We are glad that you are such an enthusiast for the hospital and not as much for the referendum that has been brought up. Good Luck and we wish you all the best……

  3. Ryan,

CONGRATULATIONS! I had every bit of faith in you and I am glad to see that your hard work, preserverence, and big heart has brought you success. I look forward to working with you.

    Melissa

  4. Hi Ryan,

Love all the stuff you’re doing! Just wondering, are you acting in the short film Cipher? If so, I’m the guy doing some special effects for it, so just to say thanks for helping out Mike!

If you’re not, this will mean nothing to you, and I’ve wasted both our time!

    Sasha
